报告简介:

Bayesian statistical system identification framework provides a robust and reliable way for developing reliable finite element models (FEMs). To realize the practical model updating of large-scale civil engineering structures, a Bayesian inference framework based on software interaction is proposed. The newly developed framework was applied to update the FEM of a long-span cable-stayed bridge, Ting Kau Bridge in Hong Kong, utilizing measured modal parameters from the literature. The model updating results are found to be highly sensitive to the selection of model classes. Furthermore, the area of the main girder of the bridge deck is a key parameter influencing the lower modes of the cable-stayed bridge. A full-scale vehicular load test was conducted on the Ting Kau Bridge to obtain the displacement influence line through the data recorded by GPS sensors on the bridge. The set of measured influence lines is employed to verify the accuracy of the updated FEM. The results demonstrate that the characteristics of the FEM updated using the proposed Bayesian model updating framework based on measured dynamic properties are consistent with the structural characteristics of the bridge. The proposed framework can facilitate the structural health monitoring of large-scale civil engineering structures.

Ir Dr Paul Heung-fai LAM is currently associate professor in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong. Dr. Lam performs fundamental and applied research in structural health monitoring (SHM) and innovative wind turbine design. Dr. Lam is experienced in full-scale dynamic testing of structures and has led to the bookVibration Testing and Applications in System Identification of Civil Engineering Structures(CRC Press). Dr Lam lead a series of research projects and consultancy projects on the structural model updating and SHM of various structural systems, such as buildings, bridges (e.g., Tsing Ma Bridge, Ting Kau Bridge, and Kap Shui Mun Bridge), railway track systems following both model-based approach and model-free (data driven, AI-based) approach.

Dr Lam is currently theAssociate Editor of Engineering Structures. Dr Lam was awarded theTop 2% most highly cited scientists in Engineeringby Stanford University in 2020 and 2022; TheGrand Award – Structural Excellence Awardfrom the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, Structural Division in 2023; TheGeneva International Exhibition of Inventions Silver Award on March 2022; The Editor’s Featured Paper Award and the Best Paper of the Year 2022 (Structural Control and Health Monitoring) from Engineering Structures (Elsevier) on Aug 2022; The Pengcheng Scholar Chair Professor in Harbin Institution of Technology, Shenzhen, China, in 2019. Dr. Lam has received over HK$46 million in research grants. According to the Web of Science, Dr Lam has an h-index of 38 (Scopus).
